AASW Teacher Training Program

Alexander Alliance Southwest offers those wishing to become Alexander Teachers the opportunity to design a program which fits into the reality of their lives. Prospective students are encouraged to design an individually tailored program, with the assistance of the AASW Director, which is realistic and feasible in your life. Often people put off the idea of training because it requires too much of a life change – moving to another city, only being able to work part-time, etc. AASW offers another alternative. You can create a training program that fits into your life – now.

Students at an Alexander Technique Teacher training
There are full time, part time, and self-designed programs available. You can choose to attend full time and complete your core training requirements within three years, plus a recommended fourth year apprenticeship. Alternatively, you can choose to attend part time and to take as long as you need to complete the core training requirements and apprenticeship. If you have a particularly challenging schedule, you may want to consider a self-designed program. If you are traveling from outside of New Mexico, you might design a program wherein you attend some of the NM Training Events each year, and organize workshops and private lessons in your home area at which you can apprentice to add to your training hours.

If you enjoy travel, you may design a program where you fulfill a portion of your requirements at another Alliance school/satellite in Japan, Germany, Toronto, Portland, Anchorage, Philadelphia, or Italy.
As you begin to explore training options, please be sure to read through our Living Arts Curriculum, as this best describes the AASW curriculum and training style.
