Based in northern New Mexico, USA, AASW offers full and part-time, non-residential training for those interested in becoming teachers of the Alexander Technique. AASW programs are specifically designed for those who are seriously invested in becoming Alexander Teachers, but are not able to relocate to a residential program or devote themselves to full-time study. AASW offers a unique approach to studying Alexander’s work through the Living Arts Curriculum, designed to offer practical application of Alexander’s principles through the activities of daily life. AASW also offers private lessons, group classes, and introductory through post-graduate workshops for those interested in personal study of the Alexander Technique.

AASW is a member of the Alexander Alliance, an international alliance of Alexander Technique teacher training programs, with individual schools in Santa Fe, NM & Philadelphia, PA (USA), Toronto (Canada), Tokyo, Kyoto, & Kibi (Japan), Krefeld (Germany) and Florence & Rome (Italy), with a new program beginning in Anchorage, Alaska in 2006. All fulltime students within the Alexander Alliance have the opportunity to study abroad at any of the Alliance schools during the course of their training.

The Alexander Alliance, founded in 1982 by Bruce Fertman and Martha Hansen Fertman,
serves as an intercultural, intergenerational community for the study and enjoyment of Alexander’s work. Over the past 20+ years, the Alexander Alliance has become a leader in bringing the application of FM Alexander’s principles into the 21st century.
